Welcome to Pollinator Pathway in Village of Quogue! There are several community gardens in the Village of Quogue including The Butterfly Garden at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, The Pollinator Garden at The Quogue Library, and The Native Gardens at Quogue Lily Pond. Both Westhampton Garden Club and Quogue Wildlife Refuge are enthused to be a part of Suffolk Alliance of Pollinators, and to work with the community and its residents to encourage good gardening practices and to plant pollinator gardens.

The Native Gardens at Quogue Lily Pond
The Lily Pond next to 114 Jessup Avenue, Quogue, NY 11959

Located on Jessup Avenue, the Lily Pond Garden was planted by The Westhampton Garden Club with native perennials selected for their beauty, bloom time, deer resistance, and support for pollinators. The garden provides an inviting and restful spot for visitors to sit with a cup of coffee or read the paper while enjoying the natural surroundings. In Fall of 2020, the Garden hosted a WGC Seed and Plant Exchange; members exchanged seeds and cuttings brought from their own gardens, and harvested milkweed seeds and pods, among other plants, from the Lily Pond Garden.

The Pollinator Garden at the Quogue Library
90 Quogue Street, Quogue, NY 11959

The Pollinator Garden, born out of concern over the ongoing loss of bees, birds, butterflies and insects worldwide, was spearheaded by a number of Westhampton Garden Club Provisionals with the help of several other members, thereafter collectively known as the Pollinator Team. When Covid 19 forced the cancellation of the House and Garden Tour for two years, the Westhampton Garden Club needed a different means of generating revenue. The Provisionals immediately rose to the occasion and came up with the idea of selling plants. Over six months the Team organized and managed the sale of Amaryllis plants during the December 2020 Holidays, and Orchids in February 2021. Both sales were successful and generated sufficient funds to allow the creation of the Pollinator Garden. The Team designed and laid out the space, chose the plants and herbs, and planted and maintained the Garden. Everyone was thrilled to see the plants thrive, and many were blooming in time for the Grand Opening of the renovated Library in June 2021.  The Westhampton Garden Club provides hands-on maintenance and financial support to public gardens in the community

Quogue Wildlife Refuge Butterfly Garden
3 Old Country Road, Quogue, NY 11959

The Butterfly Garden was established in 2004, with support and guidance from the Westhampton Garden Club, it contains plants and flowers that encourage and support a variety of pollinators including butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

Through continued collaboration with the Westhampton Garden Club, and a tremendously generous overhaul project donated by Dragonfly Landscape Design Inc. of Westhampton, the Butterfly Garden has become an increasingly special and beautiful place to visit!

The garden is lined with a personalized brick walkway, which is a lovely way to eternalize your support of the QWR. Your name or message can be engraved on a brick and incorporated into the walkway.

The Quogue Wildlife Refuge, including the Butterfly Garden, is open daily from sunrise to sunset and is free to visit.
